Since independence noticable develompnets have been done only since the concept of coaliation government started in late 90's until then it was all only the few north Indian states. Even now if you see ... there is no regional participation from North east state and that is the reason why those places are still backward.
We cannot follow US system simply because we are a diverse country. also no one is PULLING IN ALL DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS FOR SMALL SLICES OF INDIVIDUAL PIES its all only based on common Minimum program and the other acceptable deals of all the coaliation parties.
