Revolt in SP - Rediculous Stand taken by a Muslim MP
by jamsheed abumohammed on Jul 09, 2008 08:47 PM

Munawar Hasan,MP,refused to toe the line of the SP leadership,is his personal stand; but the argument put forth by him about Muslims, bordering on insanity. He may oppose the deal but he has no right to speak for Muslim. First he is not the sole rep. of the Muslim Community. Secondly he was a member of the SP which is not a Muslim Party. The arguments that the deal would benefit the US companies and that money would be used to bomb the Muslim nations, is not expected from an Hon'ble MP. This sounds like a street talk by the illeterates arguing at the nukkad of the street. This does not sound like an argument from a Member of the Parliament. If his argument is taken for granted, then what he would say for the association of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and other Gulf Countries having good relationship with US and paying US hefty sums to buy arms from it. Is that money is not used against their own Arab brothers in Palestine. This is rubbish argument. The fact of the case is that Muslims of India are solidly behind the Govt in the deal barring the Shia Muslims, supporters of Iran, who is at logger heads with US. Muslims hate US is for sure, but the deal that would benefit the country would be welcomed by one and all and Muslims are among them. This MP and others have no business to drag and spoil the fair name of the Muslim community in their sordid game of political one upmanship. Mr. Manmohan Singh, you did well, go ahead and we are with you,Muslims, Hindus and Christians and others.
