IAEA Safeguards Agreement
by Kris on Jul 08, 2008 07:12 PM

This IAEA Safeguards Agreement is all about Inspections (how, when and why of it). This is also an 'India specific' agreement to make changes to the US & international nuclear restrictions on any trade with India. The text will be used for wrangling with the NSG for approval. The PMO has already revealed a draft overview of this agreement. But why is the left so interested in this particular document? So that it can be blocked at the next stage in NSG ? This is just another ruse to block the deal.

Anyone can google and find the text of the general IAEA safeguards agreement. In India only the civilian reactors will be subject to inspection and not the ones designated as military. It also has the right to pull out something from the civilian side when required.
