Communists' Pullout game - Congress Dilemma
by jamsheed abumohammed on Jul 08, 2008 02:06 PM

There are two options left for Congress led UPA Govt in the wake of pull out by Communists. One is muster support and face the trust vote confidently as SP is behind UPA Govt. The second option is on moral grounds. Since Congress formed the coalition with the outside support from the Left, PM must gracefully tender resignation and call for the dissolution of the Parliament. This would be hailed or else people would think that Congress is clinging on to the power by hook or crook and that it is afraid to face the elections. This is scenario in the given situation. If the Congress feels that it can delay the inevitable so that what is prime today in the minds of the electorate may not hold good if the elections are to be held in May next. It is right because, the price rise, inflation and nuclear drama are all fresh and they may work against the UPA and allies if elections are held in the near future. Surely, BJP training guns would have a cake walk. Communists are doing a great disservice to the secular forces by withdrawing support to the Govt thus pushing the electorate to chose BJP as an alternative to Congress. Thus communal forces would gain upper hand and as Amar singh has rightly said it is the communalism that is more dangerous today and it must the endeavour of all concerned to save the secular fabric of the country going to communal forces which will out to undo what has all along been done by secularism in the country. This lurking danger may be avoided if delayed.
