4 sects are prime Shia, Sunni, Ahmadiyya nad Sufi....this was I guess a 11th century thing, most of the sects don't even exist now.
some minor sects are still there but they are really minor, African islam is very different from the mainstream Islam, mixed with indegeneous beleives.
