Masala Channels
by Amandeep Singh on Jul 08, 2008 12:54 PM

Indian media has poor journalistic standards as is evident from their coverage of this case. Most of the so called news channels are masala channels with 90% of Hindi news channels coming in this category.

Most of these channels have employed fresh recruits from UP and Bihar who come to Delhi to prepare for Civil Services but join journalism after failing to make the grade in Civil Services. Their mindsets are same as that of UP police and they can go to any extent by poking thier nose in personal life of others.

Do we really need such channels who seem to have decided that Dr. Talwar is the killer? It is unbelievable for any human to kill his only child and that too who was born after 5 years and a result of IVF treatment. Imagine what the parents have to go through while they go through such treatment and ask those who do not have kids. People who come from backgrounds where 5-6 kids in a family are normal cannot really relate to the emotions of a urban professional family having one kid.

Media has done more harm to the dead girl than UP Police. It is surprising to see the heads of Hindi News Channels shamelessly trying to justify their act of blaming Talwars who are altready going through the agony of losing their only child.

As a parent, I find it impossible to believe that a parent can be involved in murder of child. And even if it has happened in a fit of rage, the parent would have broken down in a day.

God save us from such irresponsible media.
