Solar and Wind power cannot be stored for use when sun is out or there is no wind. After the nuclear accidents in US and USSR some environmentalists became too strong and lot of countries stopped using nuclear energy. Their were no casualties in US but USSR accident had long lasting effects. US was too big into nuclear energy at that time after the oil embargo of 1973. They put moratorium on all new plants. US is again beginning to build more nuclear plants. France never stopped. Energy from water is being considered and being developed but no success so far.
