Few questions
by Murali Jay on Jul 06, 2008 07:31 PM

I don't deny that Dr.Kalam knows better on nuclear deal. But that is precisely the point. Why can't the government make the points in the deal public? Why only the privileged few know about the deal? Why can't the government spell out the positives and negatives? I still don't know the answers for the following (not that I am somebody big, but it is the duty of the government to spell out exactly what we are getting into). The attitude of the PM is questionable too - as if he is the only one concerned about energy security and he will always do what is interest of the country - may be. But there may be a better option available. My questions:
1. Why not use solar and wind power which are available in plenty in our country?
2. Why not subsidise the solar and wind power generating stations/equipments, etc. and make it cheaper for public?
3. Why not allow people to generate electricity using solar and wind power on the top of the house and sell the excess power to the electricity board after the usage in the house?
4. Why no country other than France is not using even 5% of their energy needs through nuclear energy?
5. What are the actual provisions in the current so called 123 deal.
6. What are the other options available?

Anybody? By the way, I don't like to approach this problem through political and religious eyes like our so called leaders do - and I don't like those who approach like that too.
