Inflation is a global phenomenan with oil prices going through the roof. No doubt the government could have done better but wait until the Crude Oil prices reach 200$ then you would have support .. hopefully then BJP would be in power (as you say) and we can see how they handle the situation.
I think you should look around you and have a take on inflation in the neigbouring countries East to West, North to South and you will notice that India is a much cheaper place to live in the present scenario
