Costs is relative. Nuclear plants were thought expensive when oil fluctuated in the band USD 20-30 per barrel. Now with oil fluctuating in the band USD 140-150 and expected to reach USD 200, this is no longer the case.
More and more countries are rethinking on the nuclear option, including UK and US. In the US John McCain promised voters 100 new nuclear plants. Though this maybe much of rhetoric, it also suggests that viability of nuclear power is being seen under new lens.
