RE:communal BJP Vs secular left
by Virgo on Jul 05, 2008 12:33 AM

I am not a supporter of any political party or a subscriber to any dogmatic ideology.

However, it begs the question as to why any party that believes in upholding our thousands of years old culture and customs should be stigmatized as communal. There is nothing wrong with the idea of Hindutva.

After all, didn't the Muslims partition India claiming they are a different culture and race and that they could not coexist with Hindus. Never mind the fact that they could easily coexist for over 800 years when they were the rulers.

Why are the leftists who claim to be secluar speak up against the racist, communal and divisive priciple behind the partition?

If Muslims were justified in partitioning the country to "preserve" their culture, why shouldn't the Hindus have the same rights? We can be secular but at the same time be proud of our heritage and culture and have every right to promote and practice our culture in our own native country.
