1. iNDIA HAS above 100,000mw of untapped wind power, if we develop this we dont need nuclear energy, as wind energy is cheaper and also green. It can be installed in a very short span of time unlike the nuclear reactors.
- Wrong wind energy capital cost is huge. 2 - Nuclear energy is only going to account for arount 8% of India's total require ment. What about the rest, - Some european countries have 75% coming from nuclear energy, Japan and Korea have 50% and the US is having 16%. IF nuclear energy is that good, Why has the US not installed a single reactor after the 70's.
- Now they have started working in that direction and buildin more... 3- The cost of nuclear fuel is very high at the present rates which only the US will supply, What if tomorrow it stops its supply. Our scientists were developing thorium as a substitue which we have in plenty, why was the research stopped by the successive govts, Because the US was supplying with the political fuel to every party that had come to power at the centre;
Fuel is one part another is soime technology required. This deal isregarding civilian reactors that is why military or defence related research reactors atre excluded.
4 - We have coal reserves which will last for another 50 years and till then fuel our thermal power stations.
