Amazing Guts
by Kris on Jul 01, 2008 04:59 PM

The Left is pulling down the Govt. not for any people issue - it is not for price rise (about which they hold protests often), it is not for inflation or for unemployment, etc. It is for a non-people issue which does not immdly concern the common man in any way - to block a deal which is a definite necessity to help India come out of the 'Nuclear Apartheid' or the discriminatory nuclear regime, ensure energy security in the long term and become an acknowledged nuclear power. All this just because their favourite China is highly displeased with the deal and the terms India has managed to get from the US. Of course, China or the left is unlikely to acknowledege this openly again. Another major opponent of the deal is Pakistan who also wanted a similar deal with the US and has now finally decided to do it with China.

It takes amazing guts to do something like this - to stab the interests of one's own country and also hoodwink most people in the process. The left parties can only hope that people's usual ignorance on matters such as these helps them out in the next elections. The media has also failed in its duty by not explaining the N-deal and not fully exposing their pathetic and anti-national stand. The left parties have no locus standi to decide on India's strategic interests or the foreign policy. Can any other country's left leaning parties (Europe, Latin america,..) sink to such levels?
