Karnataka : Come out of the rut
by PKN on Jan 24, 2008 04:17 PM

Elections in Karnataka give the people of that state a chance to redeem thmeselves. One may have personal preferences as to who should and shouldnot win but that I think is secondary to need to having a stable government in the state.
In the last one decade only Tamilnadu is progressing in the South mainly becuase the two Dravidian parties - the DMK and the AIDMK have sucessfully tailtwisted the Center to provide dispropotionately to that State ! NO I AM NOT SAYING THAT IS WRONG ! Kerala ( under a sick Left Front Govenrment ) Andhra ( under a visionless populist YRS Reddy Government ) and Karnataka ( bashed down by immoral coalition governments ) have remained staganant.
Karanatka and its people have a quicker chance to redeem themselves by giving a clear mandate - a mandate that ensures that small irrelevent parties like the JD(S) dont endup destroying the state any further . The BJP or the Congress is good choice but again much will depend on the leadership issue being clarified.
As long as this country remains a democrasy it must repsect that only responible people can demand a responsible Government. If you vote in Garbage you will be ruled by Garbage. That thumbrule cannot be changed.
Deliver the State to a party that can bring progress to its people . Ignore the freebies we live in times when 'free lunches' exist only on electiom manifestos.
