India got the Missile technology from the Soviet Union and Russia, who have supplied everything India needed. Nothing was developed by India, but due to Kalam and his team India had the big ego that it can do reverse engineering and develop all avionics, related IT etc, but DRDO failed both in the case of Sukhoy and the missles and wasted a number of years. DRDO claimed that it could develop all computer programs for Sukhoy, but after 7 years it had admitted that it could not do it. I guess except for the raw manpower DRDO did nothing for Brahmos at all. It could not fit nuclear weapons on missiles. That was the reason India could do little during Kargill invasion against Pakistan.
