Many argue that we should not do anything in lanka bcoz LTTE has killed Rajiv Gandhi. We could have avoided sacrificing our former PM for that matter, had the govt then acted with shrewedness... they lacked it and even now i'm not sure if we have it.
Tamilians in large numbers dont cause any problem anywhere, as someone has mentioned. Its only bcoz of sinhalease majority lanka denying equal rights to tamils, the problem has erupted.
I agree LTTE should be condemned for killing Rajiv. But then how do u justify lankan army killing scores of innocent tamilians in the name of wiping out LTTE? Should not India which has a tamil state, intervene for the welfare of lankan tamils?
Is it right on the part of lanka to go on killng tamils? Thats why if they give equal rights to tamils, then LTTE can be persuaded to give up its Eelam cause, as the author has suggested.
But then that will require practical thinking from the part of rajapakse which is not seen to be there anyway...
LTTE need not be supported from indian soil, wherein they have killed our former PM. But the cause of lankan tamils should be supported and we should rein in lankan govt on that point.
