In fact we in Kashmir talk more about Mahatma than you in INdia. You have forgotten him altogether in the place of his birth. Gujarat and the fate of Indian Muslims is just one small example. Nelie, Jamshedpur, Kanpur, Meerut are other examples.
Violence in Kashmir is because India has sent 8 lakh occupation troops into kashmir. They are laden with heavy weapons. That is why violence is there.
When Mahatma fought with Satygraha he was fighting British, who were decent enough to respect it. Indian state has no decency, it crushes all non=violent and violent movements equally.
