Before commenting read the history of Sri Lanka after independene . The cry ofr seperate state was not started by the LTTE. but by the moderate TULF. If you read history there was not country called Sri Lanka it was the British who united the Sinhla and Tamil spoeaking parts of the country in 1833. Prior to that both thes people had ruled themsleves for most of their history. The last independent Tamil kingdomes to fall were not in India but in SriLanka. The Jaffan kingdom which consited of NOrth SriLanka parts of Trincomallee and the Chilaw and PUttalam districts. fel lto teh POrtuguese in the 1600s .The Vanni (the current LTTE stronghold)fell to the British aorund the 1820's when the last Tamil chief Pandara Vannian was defeated. Since independence every succesive Sinhala government has discriminated teh Tamils. thoer first act was in the 1950s soon after independence when around 1 million Tamil of recent Indian origin were made stateless after living there for 200 to 150 years. Then came discrimination in language education employment and then large scale Sinhla colonisation of historic Tamil areas to make them a permanent minority in theor own lands. From the 1950s to 1983 al lthe protestes were non violemnt and peaceful. BUt these were met with laughter scorn and brutal violence was leashed aginst the hapless Tamils by the armed forces. Police and Sinhla thughs. Many agreements were made but were torn up or dishonoured. The LTTe is the child of these racist policies
