I am from south india too. I dont remember anyone being called barbaric aryan in public discourse .Apparently, they did in the early sixties, but once in power it melted. Jayalalitha is a brahmin and that should tell you that the dravidian movement has long been banished. Regarding north indians saying such things, i dont know. But i have seen press reports about general derogatory remarks like "saleh madarasi" to indicate people from the southern states. But then again, a lot of people in the south wish india could sell UP and bihar and enjoy better ratings as a nation. So i guess you have a tin ear
