Only a strong hand can control the Jihadis
by Biswajit Ghoshal on Jan 03, 2008 10:41 AM

...remember how Musharraf freed lal masjid? by killing the jihadis. UPA thinks that by giving in to the illegal demands of muslims (like haj subsidy, quota, special programs/policies based on religion) they can stop them from going the Jihadi way. But that actually backfires, as the Jihadis think that by their work they were able to extract the special programs from the govt, and increase their jihadi-work for more. On the other-hand musharraf did the exact opposite - and now things are under control. Same in Gujarat - as soon as the gujju-muslims understood that their jihadi-ways attract govt's ugly side on the muslims, they stopped jihadi-ways and are now participating well in the growth of Gujarat. Unless something similar is done (i.e. opposite of what UPA is doing now), jihadi's will only grow under the current UPA's policies.
