Thats because Lord Vishnu (of whom Ram was the incarnation) had raped the wife of a sage by disguising as her husband and when she found out she cursed Vishnu that he will also have to bear the pain of seperation from his wife and right enough his incarnation Ram was had to bear the pain of being seperated fom his wife
