the only solution is change the people who represent us. Firstly, change ourselves. But, basically, when a person is elected to represent a constituency, that person must accept some self discipline and act responsibly. There is the story of Vikramaditya's throne. Any person who sat on it became wiser. That is allegorical reference to the principle that rulers must rule wisely. There is also the percept of Bhishma, that the king shapes the times, not that times dictate how kings must rule. But, we are ruled by intellectual midgets who trim their sails to the wind and prefer the path of least resistance rather than take the right stand on issues. One only hopes that in a generation or two wiser counsels will prevail over the political class.
