RE:Re Muslims in India
by Rah Was on Feb 28, 2008 05:53 PM

Dear Mr. Hyderabad Contact,
Being literate and being eligible enough to be at a govt. post are two different things. In the Kerala village which you say has achieved 100 % literacy (Malappuram Dist. as a whole) has about 80 % of the Muslim guys taking up their education to 12th and then leaving it for good to go over to Gulf regions. So for the statistics there are so and so number of "literate muslims", but the fact is that majority of them are not up to the level of having a representation at the govt. level. And for the fact, the lac of representation in the govt. level does not also prove that they are not financially good. I can assure that more than 80 % of the muslim population in Malappuram are in quiet a well-to-do situation even though they doent have representation in govt. posts.
