KOLKATA: A Bengali television news channel beamed footage of a group of girls celebrating Valentine%u2019s Day by stripping down to their underwear on AJC Bose Road in the wee hours of Friday.
The channel claimed to have identified the girls, who are reportedly BPO employees.
Although city police have initiated a probe into the case, no arrests have been made so far. They, however, claimed that the revelry appeared to be pre-planned.
According to police, the group %u2014 three girls and two boys %u2014 reached the AJC Bose Road-Camac Street crossing around 2.30 am in an Alto. They jumped out of the car and broke into a jig. Soon, they were seen dancing on the road and making lewd gestures at passing cars.
After a while, they started stripping and a couple of them started prancing about in their innerwear.
The police personnel present at the crossing were completely taken aback. And, before they could react, a crowd had gathered at the spot, gaping at the group%u2019s antics.
Soon, the news channel crew reached the spot and the revelry grew wilder.
The group, now only in their undergarments, made lewd gestures at the camera. They also kept pacing up and down the road and even blocked cars on the stretch.
The curtain came down on the drama when the policemen on duty finally swung into action after a few minutes, shoved the five into their car and asked them to leave the place
