Who belongs to India?
by Antro Peter on Feb 17, 2008 02:00 AM

Good article, but there are many thoughts which I disagree with the author, if being Maratha spoils the integrity of the country so does being an hindu, muslim, sikh or christian or whatever religion they belong to.

It is very unfortunate that not even a single government in the past 50 plus years took effort to unite India as a single nation. Every state gave importance to their own people and were worried about just their next election.

There should not be any organization which are affiliated to a caste or religion, which includes RSS, VHP, Muslim, Sikh and Christian party. As long as we carry the religion and caste identity with us we can never be Indians, we may say to the outside world that we are Indians but whenever someone criticize about our caste, state, language or religion we lose our Indian identity.

While we all blame it on our ancestors on why they have created so many castes and divisions etc, but we never take steps to fix it.

Unless we give priority to our country before our caste, religion, state or community such conflicts will keep on continuing. All the politicians will make misuse of it and gain some political advantage, this is exactly Raj Thackery is doing. How about the Maharashtrians who make money abroad including USA, UK and other parts of north and south India?? Should they be targetted for sending their hard-earned money back to Maharashtra??
I have not seen any absurd politics as this and unfortunately the people and media are with them.
