Mr Tarun Vijay, in a world of averages, those who are not average cannot be accepted as models. You are not average. Is there anyone who is Indian? Is there really a Maharashtrian? These are matters of perception. One might not agree with the idea of sons of the soil within larger framework of Indian identity, but it exists, and not only in the minds of people of one linguistic group, but that of the others who look at that group. My being a Maharashtrian is not because. Today there are twenty five akh UPians and Biharis in Mumbai's population of more than one crore. I do not see how they are building India or Mumbai or anything else. Why should such unabated inflow not be stopped? Look at the completely overwhelmed state of civic amenities, what about the taxpayers in Mumbai, whatever language they may be speaking? Do they not have the first claim on what they are paying for? While advocating generosity to those who have to give, see what is being demanded. It is not being demanded that the identity of Maharashtrians be wiped out. Not now, but later this too will come. Why should these 'outsiders' not accept local leaders, but invite their state leaders to lead them in Mumbai? The cacophony of 'Indian voices' has been used effectively to supress the legitimate rights of local people of Mumbai and Maharashtra at large. I have seen that happening since the fifties and you are adding your voice to it, claiming chance of mixed background as a virtue.
