There was no word called ISLAM or Muslim in the arab world. They were the descendants of Abraham/Ibrahim until Prof. Mohammad started this religion. The children of Ishmael have become Muslims & the children of Isaac are Jews/Israelites .The Egyptians were not Muslims ( they worshiped other gods).The Persians(IRAN/IRAQ) also were not Muslims, just like our pakis & Indian muslims. They were forced to convert to Islam just like Aurangazeb did. But as you say there is controversy, the Bible says Isaac was taken for being sacrificed, but the bakrid festival celebrated says Ishmael was to be sacrificed. So which book is true. Then I believe that the laws of Islam are very very similar to the laws of mosses. and the funniest part is there is Children of the same ancestors fight among them selves. The Muslims doent want to accept that Jews are their relatives.
