1.      A child from a poor background joined your family
2.      You were bound to give him shelter and allow him to earn for himself because that is what the LAW says (obviously / most likely you were not happy with he joining your family)
3.      He grew up under your shelter but still wants and loves his own family. He does that because he feels that whatever he has earned is by himself and that you hardly helped him in earning his livelihood. Moreover, he is permitted by LAW to earn his living himself while being within your family. You can stop giving shelter to him only by breaking the LAW. I think it will be incorrect from your side, if you hate him and want him, not-to love his family. However, it will be incorrect from his part also, if he hates you and starts misbehaving with you/your family and even start showcasing his power.
4.      What he should do:
a.      Be respectful to the culture of your family
b.      Be respectful and polite to the members of your family
5.      What you should do:
a.      Understand the fact that he is not an outsider
b.      Understand and respect the love and affection that he has with his family
