Roots of Marathi are Dravidian. It was later influenced by Sanskrit and was later dominated by the Saskritic content. Still, Marathi does not use pure Sanskrit like Malayalam or Telugu and to some extent Kannada does.
Root of 'Ikde' (pronounced E-kde): E/I means 'this'. 'Idam' means 'place'.
The words 'ivvidam'(old Tamil) 'Ivide'(Malayalam), 'Hikde'(Kannada), or 'ikde' (Marathi) means the same thing. It is the Dravidian equivalent of 'this place' or 'here'.
