Mr. Mohan, there is no need to accuse all muslims for the crimes of a few. I have many liberal muslim friends and some of them are even atheists (can you believe? ).
The majority of liberal muslims themselvels have to come forward and make the misguided elements of their community understand about the futility of fighting in the name of religion and god! If others tell them, they will feel offended.
The teachings (preachings) of The Prophet (Mohammed) was meant for the inhabitants of 7th century Arabia. Nobody can follow that in 21st century in any part of the world.
