RE:One family is responsible for disturbance of Mumbai!
by Suresh Bhave on Feb 13, 2008 02:44 PM

I was referring to Prabodhankar Thackeray. He was Bal's father and had a newspaper called Prabodhan. I have not said I support violence. You are implying that Maharshtrians lack merit, which they aught to earn and also implying that people from other states deverve the jobs because they have the merit that Maharashtrians lack. Examine these premises yourself and you will know that these are illogical. Mumbai telephones was filled with UPians, do you think that Maharshtrians cannot lay a telephone line. It is well known that Lalu is filling railways with Biharis, do you mean to tell me that a Maharashtrian cannot be a train inspector? In 1960s it was an unwritten rule in Mumbai that Maharashtrians will not find a decent job. It was only after Sthanik Lokadhikar Samiti was started by Shiv Sena that Maharashtrains began finding jobs even as peons in offices. It was sheer nepotism, parochialism and breaking of undertakings by people from other states that had come to occupy places of power in private and public organizatons that this was happening. There was a strike in MIDC Aurangabad in the 1970s because the entrepreneurs there had undertaken to employ locals to 30 percent jobs, but refused to honor their word. You mean Maharashtrians cannot even operate lathes, pressses and drills? Come on, be a realist, our only fault is that we showed too much tolerance.
