I feel ashamed at times when i see what's going on in India. From my childhood days we have read about 'Indian Culture' the foundation of which was considered to be 'Unity in Diversity'. I am 34 years old, work abroad for last 5 years and can honestly tell myself that I have witnessed 'Diversity' everywhere and 'Unity' nowhere in my favourite country. We cheer for India when we win cricket matches, but the moment we lose, we take apart Sachin, Saurav, Dravid in a fierce battle of Mumbai, Bengal and Karnataka lobbies. When Dhoni talks too much we want to shut him up as a Bihari... Sardars are tupid, Bengalis are lazy, Tamils are shrudes, Gujjus are strange, Biharis are worker class, Malayalis are crazy... every class is something bad compared to our own... We have regional politics that have reached a level where leaders want people from not only a state but from 'northern india' to be thrown out of their state. WONDERFUL!!! I have never refused entry or work permit in countries ranging into 3 continents and speaking 4 different languages, but I see they were more progressive than my own country India. I feel ashamed to be an Indian when Indians are so eager to tear apart the country in regional lines. To keep a country together and yet not have any collective feeling for its natives is worse than to break the land mass into pieces and allow each ethnicity to screw up their own part at their will. This way, we can all head towards destruction together. Raj Thackeray and al
