Sorry you are wrong. The Downfall of India from its glorious days before the british started sometime during the time of Moghuls. As Swami Vivekanada said, the inactivity of lazy hindu minds did not portray 'satvikta' but 'tamasikta'. That is why he gave the recipe for true Hindutva, and pure nationalism. He said the soul of India is her religions. Gandhi travelled the length and breadth of India and knew their pulse, what made them tick. He knew Indians could never organise an armed attack against the british, so he took the support of Gita and preached non-violence. No matter how you slice it, you cannot disclaim the fact that he won freedom for India. I do believe that Patel would've been right choice as 1st PM, not Nehru. I believe history would've been different had both Gandhi and Patel survived longer.
