ADVANIJI IS OUR FUTURE P.M.
by Vivek Sharma on Feb 01, 2008 01:23 PM

Shri Lal Krishna Advani was born in 1937 in Karachi. He did early part of his schooling in Karachi, and thereafter went to study law in Bombay University. Advani joined RSS, the second defense force of India, and in 1951 under Dr. Mookerji he joined Jan Sangh and was appointed to various posts including becoming a member of Rajya Sabha and Chief of Delhi Metropolitan Council.
In 1977, he served as Minister of Information & Broadcasting in the Janta Government. During his tenure, he not only dismantled the emergency apparatus and freed the media from the numerous legislative and executive shackles, but he institutionalized reforms and in built safeguards to guard freedom. His achievement was launching of poll broadcast and for the first time political parties were given equal time on Television and Radio. He abolished Press Censorship and repealed all anti-press legislation enacted during the emergency. He introduced the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Bill in Parliament. The Bill sought to grant autonomy to Doordarshan and Radio.

In 1980 BJP was formed and he was appointed the party General Secretary. In 1986 he became the Party president. Contemporaries of Atal Bihari Vajpyee, his speeches in Parliament are marked by sobriety, clarity of mind and uncompromising national interest.
WE NEED THIS IRONMAN TO LEAD INDIA...
