As always comments without knowledge
by shashank chauhan on Aug 20, 2008 01:08 PM

So many comments, full of ignorance.

Having met Mr Kejriwal personally and seen enough examples, I have no doubts that the RTI works and if queries asked are clever enough one can get every useful information one can ask for.

Problems with RTI are two, first, we as citizens of India are too used to corruption, we wld rather pay bribes than go thru the procedure of writing and filing an application, itna patience hi kahan hain.
Second, is of course beauraucratic. The law is after all implemented by govt offcials and we know how corrupt they are, not to say that all of them are but there are still quite a few of them. Thus RTI implementation suffers on that account; if CIC himself is not strong not much can be done. Having said that, it still is much more powerful than any other method. And it specially works in small day to day issues that hurts the common man, issues like those of Ration Cards, those of insuffiecient water supply, roads not being maintained and other such cases.

Arvind Kejriwal ji is an example for all of us, bright man (He holds a Mechanical Engg degree from IIT KGP and qualified Civil Services Exam) who gave it all to launch a crusade against corruption. He and Parivartan has done tremendous work for us, Kudos to him and his team, he has not only helped many a people but has also proved to be an insipiration to many of us.

I wish him all the best and urge people to contribute in their own manner towards anti-corruption movement and strengthening of RTI
