Army as a institution
by nitn on Aug 17, 2008 03:39 AM

When we got independence, the strategists did one thing that was good. They did not touch Military and kept it same as the British structure, same ranks and culture. Even now, Indian army is highly westernized, probably the most westernized institution in india, and that probably helps in maintaining high levels of professionalism. But still, when the junta is so corrupt, you might see some reflection in army ranks also.
But if you look at the country level, and then look at the army, it is refreshingly surprising that it could exist in this country
