NPT, no CTBT
by Rajiv Shivashankar on Aug 05, 2008 02:59 PM

We should have no objection to the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty. However, signing the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty unilaterally will cap the Indian nuclear weapons programme which in the present world scenario is not advisable, especailly when we have nuclear armed Pakistan who is not a signatory to the CTBT or NPT.
Japan's concerns are well understood, and its efforts to achieve a nuclear weapons free world is greatly appreciated, but reality prevents intentions from being implemented in our neighbourhood.
