Linga means a mark, in Sanskrit. It is a symbol which points to an inference. This vast world of countless forms is a Linga of the omnipotent Lord. The Siva-Linga is a symbol of Lord Siva
It is sanatan dharma - which means eternal religion. Everything which has a date of birth has a date of death also. Sanatan Dharma has no date of birth like your beautiful religion and hence is timeless.
well there is nothing called Hinduism. The word "Hinduism" is not to be found anywhere in the scriptures, and the term "Hindu" was introduced by foreigners who referred to people living across the River Indus or Sindhu, in the north of India, around which the Vedic religion is.
Hinduism is the world's oldest organized religion.
