Varghese Baby , Much as you may try to camouflage it the purpose of Christian Charity work has more to do with 'conversions' and less to that noble phrase about 'serving humanity. It is true that missionaries serve the poorest of the poor or the most down trodden tribals – the means are wonderful but the end in itself is highly questionable! Ultimately like all Abrahamic religions the final game is about numbers . Whether this is achieved by way of conversions or by procreation (the Catholic Church in Kerala has asked its followers to procreate more vigorously) . There was this great belief that the Church was a great promoter of education – a noble activity which they actually did. But as St Stephens recently announced loudly they are not in the Business of Education but committed only to faith they represent (Not the words of the Sangh Parivar but the actual words of the management committee that overseas running of St Stephens ) Motivated Charity is no charity !
