There is something fishy in this deal going by the hurry the US is showing. Bush wants to seal the deal because it has fooled the Indians to sign the NPT/CTBT which their past leaders from Indiraji - Rajivji - Atalji etc. had the vision not to sign.
Also, in the US, nuclear power plants supply only 19 per cent of the total electricity consumed. Due to risks involved in setting up and operating nuclear power plants, Americans have decided that the risks outweigh the benefits of nuclear energy and have halted the setting up of any more nuclear power plants in the country. In spite of large deposits of uranium, Australia has not set up any nuclear power plants due to the risks involved.All these countries are rather trying to go for solar, wind and other non-conventional energy. India with its foolish leadership will have to be ready for sanctions as soon as we test our nuclear weapon capability. We have not been treated at par with the N-power states only 1% of whose n-facilities are placed under inspn of IAEA whereas in our case 14 n-facilities have at once been placed for inspection with huge costs of insps for perpetuity without any guarantee for supply of fuel for any number of years. In case India conducts a nuclear test and US stops fuel supply, no country in the world has the power to take on US and supply us fuel. Moreover all of them can gang up against India as they did earlier when India tested nuclear weapons in order to maintain their hegemony..
