R K Reddy, Ashoka repented his own action of killing so many people in the battle of Kalinga. That has nothing to do with any religion. Hinduism is not a prosyletising religion and Ashoka did not kill anyone for propagating hinduism (unlike the Christian missionaries or the islamic invaders). That is the basic difference.
