The Arabs were doing fine as long as they followed Islam with intelligence and compassion. That is why they were able to invent so many navigation instruments, conquer half of Europe, yet did not molest christians or jews. The day they started becoming fanatics, they lost their compassion, their learning and the ability to govern instead of killing.
