These are only the reported cases. There are almost twice which goes unreported. The fact "68 per cent of the rape accused were illiterate while 24 per cent had only studied up to Standard 10. Approximately 80 per cent of the accused belong to the poor strata." justifies the fact. Girls and women from upper strata do not usually report the incidents to Police. This is a very serious issue and I do not think that we should bring the North south east west devide into this.
