Since conditions on the moon were not favourable for sustaining life, astronauts who went to the moon had to take with them all the three substances necessary for the production of life. These three substances are (1) the livable matter (phonemic protoplasm, (2) nutrition in the form of food and water and (3) oxygen. Of these three the first they took in their bodies and the other two in containers. If they had run short of any of these life-generating substances, they would not have returned to earth alive.
