Bangalore: In the run up to the battle for Karnataka, the Lok Paritran party founded by former IITians is all set to make good of the educated voters in Bangalore. The political party of the educated elite will be fielding candidates in 20 of the 28 Assembly seats in Bangalore.
They do not have any grand ambitions of winning every seat, but what they do promise is a change from mundane politics.
%u201CEven one candidate can make a difference. In today's politics these things are evolved over 10 to 15 years. One can't do magic in two or three years time. We have to be practical,%u201D President of Lok Paritran B T Naganna said.
The party comprises of the following leaders:
* NV Krishna Kumar, who has a masters degree in public administration from New York University, will be contesting from Govindarajanagar Assembly seat.
* BT Naganna is a BE in mechanical engineering and is contesting from the KR Puram constituency.
* Dr J S Keshava Kumar is a dental surgeon, contesting from Shantinagar seat.
The party's manifesto promises minimum wages of Rs 25 per hour and prudent taxation.
The party leaders know they don't stand much of a chance against political heavyweights, but they still have other aims.
%u201CWe're hoping in this election to become a recognised party by the Election Commission. You must have minimum 6 per cent votes in four different states. So Karnataka will be a start for us,%u201D Krishna Kumar said.
