RE:Thought on Karnataka Elections.
by Punyakumar on Apr 24, 2008 09:45 AM

I am not talking of non contributions of Lingayats. In fact their contribution to various aspects of life in Karnataka is adorable. I am speaking of only political leadership and not anything else. When Lingayat leaders like Yediyarappa and others are polarizing Lingayat votes, why shouldn't Vokkaligas do that. When support for Yediyurappa was withdrawn there were protests everywhere by the Lingayat community across party lines. If Vokkaligas do that it is casteist, but if Lingayats do it is loyalty to caste. This duplicity should go. It was Lingayats who started polarizing electorate and not Vokkaligas. If Gowda has not done anything to Vokkaligas so does all Lingayat leaders. Farmers are there in every religion and caste they are not restricted to Vokkaliga community.
