New Delhi, Apr. 19 (MRS & MJ)- Upset over the controversies in regard to the selection of Congress candidates for the Karnataka Assembly polls, AICC(I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has instructed the Central Election Committee of the Congress to defer the official announcement of the list.
AICC(I) General Secretary Prithviraj Chauhan, in charge of party affairs in Karnataka, who was to announce the list last evening, postponed it following instructions from Rahul, who was on a tour in Bundelkhand, UP, yesterday.
According to sources, a delegation led by Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress President Krishna Bhyregowda met Rahul's Personal Secretary Jeetender Singh yesterday afternoon and complained about the manner in which the list was being prepared sidelining Youth Congress aspirants.
Following information from his Secretary, Rahul spoke to his mother and Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi and requested her to postpone the announcement of the list. He also gave instructions to Chauhan in this regard.
The Election Committee could not proceed with the list as Rahul returned from Bundelkhand late in the night.
In the meanwhile, there are reports that former Dy. Chief Minister Siddharamaiah had a wordy duel with Screening Committee leaders last night for not allotting tickets to some of his followers. He reportedly walked out of the Screening Committee meeting which was finalising the list to
