A very timely article. The crisis has not developed in a day. It is a result of wrong policies of the country since last more than 60 years. It has no easy solutions. A far worse crisis is looming large, but we are asleep: The Water Crisis. With ground water tables and the quality of ground water going down steadily, I think we are going to witness riots for water soon. Learned people like Mr Shenoy should also write about this crisis.
