The victory of the Maoists in Nepal's elections is a big blow to India. Already India has tense relations with all its neighbours such as Pakistan,Bangla Desh & China. With the Maoists victory, Nepal too joins this list. Moreover our relations with Srilanka are not cordial. Thus India is surrounded on all sides by neighbours who are not favourable to us.My point is what were India's Intelligence Bureau officials doing prior to the elections, could they not foresee the mood of the voters, their inclination towards the Maoists. They have failed miserably,& on top of this GOI has proposed a huge hike of 40% in salaries for these nincompoops. The formation of Nepal government by the Maoists pertains to the extension of the Chinese upto our UP & Bihar border, which means more trouble for us on both external & internal fronts( Nepal maoists giving arms support to the Indian naxals). With the inflation in india rising,& measures taken not bearing fruit, also this Nepal blow, further the Tibetan uprising presently petering out,on which India had banked on to embarass china,it appears Manmohan Singh is passing thru a bad time. With one after another blow to his govt he can forget the Indo-US civil nuclear deal to take effect. b.n.roy,nagpur
