Article of faith
by saambha on Apr 15, 2008 07:16 AM

Its been long since an article of such quality and depth was published. Mr Singh most certainly has a lot of knowledge about our vedas and ancient literature. Those who dismiss this literature as work of fiction forget that even other faiths refer to their own books (bible and kuran) and worship every word of it as the word of god.
It is no coincidence that the tales of Ramayana or Mahabharata have survived for thousand of years. It is no coincidence that the land of India is dotted with places mentioned in our scriptures. Many of the points raised in this article are debatable but as is everything else in this world.
Even if you do not believe in the knowledge that has persisted in India for thousand of years, do not dismiss your heritage as some piece of imaginary junk.
The problem with us is that we are more likely to believe a foriegn 'authority' than our own seers and scriptures. Science, by its very nature is evolutionary. Not very long ago, scientists believed that our universe was a few thousand years old. At that time no body could convince them otherwise. We as humans have a long way to go before we even begun to understand our real past. It seems there is a mental block and we do not see anything beyond the past 5000 years. It seems a huge chunk of our existence is missing. Our vedas and literatures are a treasure of information from this distant and lost past.
Religion is always a matter of faith and even if you do not believe, have faith in your belief!
